Tings to look forward too...

First off, to my blog, Happy 20th post....I just noticed that fact, I'm not purposefully counting, but I thought I'd mention it...

Okay, so onto the music, here a 'lil bit on two albums to look forward to in the next few weeks.

Postcards from a Young Man, Manic Street Preachers

Okay, so on Monday (the 20th of September, that number pops up again...) the Manic's 10th studio album hits the shelves in all good record stores throughout the land. If you follow the Manics you will know that they have a habit of making one dark, messy punkish album (ala 'Holy Bible'), followed by a much more mainstream, glam style rock album (ala 'Send Away The Tigers'). This is to be one of the latter. It's been billed by the band's bassist (and resident gob on a stick) Nicky Wire as their 'last shot at mass communication' which means, in real terms, lots of big anthemic choruses, string sections and James Dean-Bradfield soloing like he's in Van Halen. Certainly early reports from recent live shows would hint that the new material is as such. In fact there is even a gospel choir on one track, so the grape vine says.

Why is this a good thing? Well although I'm generally a critic of such overblown rock albums, and while I'll always prefer the Manics in 'Holy Bible' mode, this is the Manic Street Preachers so you know that even with all the extra layers, its more than likely to be an album that both has a pretty deep message to it, and will rock out like Slash on steroids. And Ian McCulloch from Echo and the Bunnymen does guest vocals on one track...

Just to give you a taster, here's the video to the albums lead single, '(It's not war) Just the end of love'

Invented, Jimmy Eat World

Out on the 28th on September, (week on Tuesday at the time of writing) Jimmy Eat World's 7th studio record is the reason they're touring the UK in November. For me this would almost be enough to make me excited about it on its own. There's less info flying around on what the acctual album is going to sound like, but it's probably a fair bet to think it will be similar to recent Jimmy Eat World albums, bit tunes, raaawk and a few acoustic numbers. Certainly this is what the album's first single makes it sound like (video below). Now while I'd rather they made an album more like Clarity or Static Prevails, there is no doubt that when Jimmy Eat World are on form, they make brilliant straight up rock albums, so here to hoping this is one such record.

First single, 'My Best Theory'

And another thing...

One last thing, most of you reading this (if anyone is) will have found it through my Facebook page, if you have, you will also be able to view my profile on Spofity and I've linked the two. This means that, from today you will be able the view the all new, BLOG PLAYLIST! Featuring songs by artists I've blogged about it will constantly be updated as I post here. Just so you can hear the stuff I'm talking about (if it’s on Spofity) without having to watch poor quality YouTube videos...

So until next nice, have fun.
