A sad bit of news reached me today...
Postmortem Promises have broken up and will, on the 30th of this month, be playing their final London show...
Now the demise of an underground death metal group with only a single full album to their name may strike you as an odd thing to be upset/feel the need to tell the world about. Probably is in the grand scheme of things, but I don't think I care.
They were a devastating live force, and are my favourite band of their genre (with the possible exception of Martyr Defiled). They were a real underground band too. Search them on youtube and you'll find countless live videos of them playing, well, shitty venues. Places that look like someone’s front room and church halls. You'd expect to see these kind of places featuring on 'You've Been Framed' when a child trips up and falls face first into a cake at a kids birthday party, not with an ear popping deathcore band screaming their lungs out in them.
So, if you like the music, go to the show. Camden Purple Turtle on the 30th. Last time I saw them, I nearly threw up from a bit too much 'mosh', so you know it'll be good.
If you don't like the music, at least stop and think for a moment. We need more bands like this.
