A Riot Warning For North London

There's going to be a riot in London this weekend. This Saturday, near the Hope & Anchor in North London, I guarantee it.

Now, much as making a statement like that might make me sounds like a fear mongering Daily Mail journalist, I'm not trying to scare you into keeping your windows locked and your doors barred. Don't worry; this is going to be a very localised riot. No shops will be burnt.

On Saturday night, the Tangled Tour is hitting London.

What is the Tangled Tour I hear you ask? Well it's a tour, with bands, most of them signed to Tangled Talk records. So far so standard, there are plenty of tours stopping in London this weekend. The thing that makes this special is that Tangled Talk is one of the best underground record labels in the UK, and the six bands playing at the Hope & Anchor are among the best to have put out releases through it.

You may have heard me mention some of them before. Bastions, with their debut album 'Hospital Corners' just around the bend (no pun intended) are primed to get massive and Kerouac and Goodtime Boys need no introduction (I've raved about the latter enough to make you all sick anyway). If those three bands alone were playing a show together you'd probably find me frothing as the mouth as it is.

Then of course you have the bands on the 'bottom' end of the bill, Battle for Paris, The Long Haul and Lets Talk Daggers. If you own a copy of the Tangled Talk sampler album you'll have heard at least two of these bands and know that while they’re not as high profile, they're still worth missing no less than the headliners. Battle for Paris are a particular favourite of yours truly, ‘Fuck You Deja Vu’ is one of my favourite bots of spastic mathsy hardcore.

So when you add it all up, you have to come to the conclusion that things are going to go mental. Small venue, six ace bands, angry songs, it's a pretty explosive mix. If you have a few quid spare and the evening off I'd advise you to come and try to blag a ticket on the door.
In fact, if you're skint and busy you should still try, it's going to be a hell of a night.
