Hello Eazynoiz readers, I present to you round two of the hidden (or not so) gems of that lovely site BANDCAMP
SURVIVAL are a 5 piece straight edge hardcore band from Manchester playing music in the vein of 90's style hardcore. Anyone who is familiar with Manchester’s hardcore scene and the bands it puts out (Broken Teeth. xcurraheex) will know that hardcore is back on the rise in the UK and Survival are definitely a force to be reckoned with. The demo is full of 90's style guitar work, heavy breakdowns and sincere yet direct lyrics about straight edge, with the second track "Destined To Lose" having a guest appearance from Joe Latham from the now broken up Wardogs. This demo is unrelenting and a highly enjoyable listen and certainly will prove that there are constantly new good British hardcore bands are emerging all over the UK. (4/5)
Chest Pain from Austin, Texas play a brand of super-fast hardcore punk/grind/PV (cue nerd rage) with the sole intent of reducing your ears and your face to a fine pulp. It's easy for bands sometimes to get lost even with 26 second songs but every song on this EP is finely tuned and feels like they have been written and placed with a purpose (as opposed to a hodge podge of just short songs that you sometimes find) and at just under 8 minutes long, it's not going to eat up much of your time, but listening to songs like "SOB STORY" and "Embrace Despair" at full volume will certainly make this demo worth a re-listen even it is just to try and wrap your head round what you heard the first time. Super Fast, Super Loud but also superbly structured. (4/5)
Curb Crawl (Leeds, UK) were a band that I had heard a lot about but never actually got round to listening to, but with them putting codes up to download their back-catalogue I leapt at the chance and boy does it not disappoint. Curb Crawl (who are now broken up) play this brand of super heavy sounding hardcore with equally heavy vocals which combined just make it one of these albums that just makes you want to mosh repeatedly. It's the audio equivalent of a big boot to the face and with songs like "Loathing" and "No Morality" you will probably feel like you've been booted in the face. Heavy heavy riffs. (5/5)
