A little video update for you all this evening, with some older and some newer songs from bands you may or may not have heard of...
Wu Lyf
I often get told that I go on too much about hardcore and other things 'heavy' in the posts I write for this blog. True, I love a bit of screaming and ear melting guitars but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the softer side of things. Manchester quartet WU LYF (short for 'World Unite Lucifer Youth Foundation' if you were wondering) are a fine example of the sort of quality indie bands that give me faith that one day the British indie scene might be exciting again. See the video below and I challenge you to argue.
Brutality Will Prevail
They may be beloved of begs everywhere and possibly the embodiment of 'hipster hardcore' but BWP are still a cracking band and give a beast of a live show. The video to 'Heavy Eyes' below uses footage from their set at this year’s Ghost Fest and demonstrates the awesome force of their live show...
The Shins
Back to Indie-Pop, this isn't new and you've probably heard it before (especially if you've ever seen Garden State) but it still remains one of the best songs ever written. Period.
Thrones
Long time followers of this blog will have heard me drone on about Windsor local boys Thrones more times than they can count, but I'm throwing them in here to mark the fact they've decided to call it a day and played their last show today in Kingston following a gloriously messy set at the Firestation last night. Expect some form of longer review/fan boy sad-fest later this week, but for now, have a look at this live footage and be sad if you ever missed this.
(oh and if you were wondering, the Thrones footage was filmed by Owen who also writes here, check out his YouTube channel for a mountain of other local Windsor shows filmed live)
