Bombay Bicycle Club:

Bombay Bicycle Club are, well, one of my favourite bands. End of really. They may be named after an Indian restaurant on the Kings Road in London, and they may look a bit funny, but I really couldn't care less, because frankly, they're amazing.
They're been around for a few years now, as part of the 'underage scene'. I first heard about them in 2006 (I think) when they won the 'Road to V' competition and got to open V festival that year. Since then they've released two EPs 'The Boy I Used To Be' and 'How We Are and last year they're debut album, 'I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose'.
They're indie, not 'oh we're the Pigeon Detectives, we're indie' type indie, but actually interesting, pretty original and with the ability to write songs more than two and a half minutes long, which is nice. On record they're pretty melodic, with extended, slightly distorted guitar lines, pretty tight drums and the sort of lyrics that manage to be honest without making every muscle inside you cringe. They've also got a couple of pretty ace stripped down acoustic tracks, mainly as recent b-sides that really stand out. Rumour is they're next album is going to be an all acoustic one, which should be interesting.
On a final note, they're not exactly bad live either. The vocals sound just as good as they do on record and everything’s tight and pretty dam loud. If you get the chance to see them, do :)

and now..something different...
Veronica Falls

Veronica Falls are a band I came across earlier this week and decided I liked...a lot :) From Glasgow/London they're more 'old school' indie than BBC, sounding like some infernal Vaselines love child. If you're into '80s indie you'll probably like them.
Their music is quite dark, whith obligatory 'jangly' guitars, shoegaze style walls of noise and some ghostly vocals/harmonies. They've got songs about commiting suicide by jumping off Beachy Head and finding love in graveyards. They've got a single out at the moment, 'Found Love in a Graveyard' and you can download one of their songs ('Stephen') for free of the NME radar blog...check them out :)
