New MGMT, Eygptian Hip Hop and the Field Mice...

Blog update time...

Okay, first thing's first, for any MGMT fans, a couple of tracks off their new album have found their way onto the net. One, 'Flash Delirium' was posted as a free mp3. Download by the band themselves on their website. The second, 'Congratulations' has been leaked by someone somewhere, so if you like MGMT and you hadn't heard, go get.

Now for some bands...

Eygptian Hip Hop

So if you're into the habit of judging a band on how they look, you'll probably now be frothing at the mouth in rage. Yes, Egyptian Hip Hop look like a bunch of retarded scene kid wanabees, and one of them (the drummer I think) IS wearing a cat mask....

But HOLD ON, they're not that bad! Think weird, synthy almost prog style pop and that would be what you'd call these peeps. You could say they were a bit like Metronomy or Your Twenties, but in my humble opinions, they're quite a bit better and more original.

That being said, I don't think they're at the moment, the most varied band ever. Okay they've got virtually no material to their name, but what they do have all sounds a bit samey. Good, but samey, just a warning.

Here's their MySpace:

There's a couple of track there, so check them out. They've also got a video to 'Wild Human Child' comming out, but I can't find it on youtube yet..

and now...somethign OLD

The Field Mice

Okay, if I was a 'pro-blogger' this would be my 'Classic Band of the Week' or something equally retarded...

Basically, the Field Mice are an indie guitar band from South London, who were in existence in the later 80's. They were signed to Sarah records, and if you're a real music geek that would excite you.

They're plain old jangly guitar pop, sweet melodies, lo-fi recording and the whole adorable lyrics about love thing. As far as indie bands from the 80's go, they're one of the 'acclaimed' ones, although all that really means is a few people liked them, as opposed to no one knowing of them outside of say, their own houses.

But they are, none the less, pretty awesome. One of my favourite bands. Here’s a 'video' of one of their 'well known' songs, Emma's House, if you read this, please please please go check them out, Spotify has a lot of their stuff on compilations :)
