SXSW
SXSW or South by South West is, not a band, but an annual new music showcase/festival help in Austin, Texas every year. Think of it as a massive live catalogue for new bands who troupe about in front of vulture like music journalists and record company types, playing lots of shows over a very small space of time, trying to get signed.
Big positive here is, lots of new bands in one place, easy to find.
At some point soon, when it's all over, I'm going to run through all the bands from SXSW that I've heard of that I liked...just to let you know :)
New MGMT
Okay, so I told you all about MGMT's new stuff leaking slightly, well now, the whole albums leaked and, in response, MGMT have decided to stream the entire thing album for free! If you like that stuff, very cool :) Here's the link, I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet (been rushed off my feet), but if you've got an opinion, leave a comment :)

and now, a band...
Out Like A Lion

Last week I saw Babyshambles live in Reading (after blagging my way into an 18s only night without ID, GET ME!) and this band, along with Sharks, supported. And to be honest, I much preferred these guys, so here you go.
Out Like A Lion, from Bristol, pretty popy indie, bouncy rhythms, power chords and yelps for vocals, that’s the key components really. I'm not going to lie, a couple of their songs sound like the Pigeon Detectives (BAD) but on the whole they're a pretty dam solid little band, whole might just go places in my opinion. Certainly they were very tight live, and had a mad drummer.
Here's the MySpace, lots of tracks to hear:

That’s about it, one other thing, new Dillinger Escape Plan sounds pretty peach, expect something on that soon.
