We’re two days into the New Year and already there are some musical gems coming out of it. 2012 is looking dam fine…
First up is this spine tingling Tigers Jaw cover of the Brand New B-side ‘Moshi Moshi’. Everyone’s favourite emo band have a wonderful range of acoustic sessions under their belt but this one, filmed for a Nervous Energies session and released yesterday is probably the best I’ve seen. The art of covering songs isn’t dead it would seem…
As well as this the last 24 hours has seen me discover Just Friends., a highly promising, noodle rich bands from America that have been together for just shy of a year. They have an album in the works but you can download their demo and an EP from their band camp. Free music is never a bad thing but this is particularly worth your while as it will provide you with some slices of sweet, low-fi emocore reminiscing on Knapsack et al to help you through the day. There’s some lovely break neck guitar work and cymbal rich drumming that, while not exactly the most original sound in the world is still pulled of excellently.
And finally, a song for the day, haven’t heard of this band? Why not?
(and incidentally, this is another Nervous Energies session, a YouTube channel really worth checking out)
