Speak Up – 24 Hour Demo (Struggletown Records)
When I first heard Speak Up's demo I wasn't exactly blown away, but for some reason I couldn't stop listening to it, and then I realised that it is actually bloody fantastic, and then I was more excited to learn they were playing a show with two of my other favourite discoveries this year, THINK TWICE and SPLITCASE.
It's safe to say Speak Up, hailing from Huddersfield, are a band to watch this year. Playing Youth Crew revival style hardcore, their first release on the up and coming Struggletown Records entitled "24 Hour Demo" is an absolute banger and was released on tape, but is also available to download off of band camp.
I have a habit of rambling on and not making very good structured points, but if you can gleam any information from this post, it would be this: Speak Up are going to be big news in 2012, and if you aren't moshing by the first 30 seconds of the intro, start the entire demo again, and listen again because it will grow on you, and you definitely don't want to miss out on this.
