Records of the Week 13/1/2012 Bandcamp v3.

It's a new year, so here to kick things off is round 3 of bands you can find on band camp and listen to, and download their music for free from.
Black Feathers are a hardcore punk band from PA, offering up straight forward clean sounding hardcore. I really like this record, some people could argue that it doesn't really do anything new but as the old mantra goes "if it isn't broken, don't fix it" so this is still worth a listen. Black Feathers offer up some heavy riffs, and seem to be channelling this sort of Trapped Under Ice vibe which I really dig. 3/5

DOWNTURN a fastcore/hardcore punk band from Virgina Beach, clearly have a big thrash influence because a lot of the songs are not only fast but seem to have this thrash like feel to them like your hearing what would happen if someone cut out the boring solos of the first Metallica album and put a different vocalist in, but also at the same time sound a bit like Internal Affairs with proficient hardcore riffing, both of which aren't bad things if you want something to grow your hair to and wear a sleeveless denim jacket to. 3/5

Modern Pain are a 5 piece straight edge hardcore band from Dallas, TX playing exactly what you would want from a straight edge hardcore band, insane two-step riffs, lyrics about keeping your edge, pissed off vocals and breakdowns so soul crushing you can feel the Earth break beneath your feet. 90's style metallic vocals including the fateful line "Just Counting Down The Days In This Modern Painnnnn" and with enough "GRAHHGHGHGHGHS" and "WAHHHAHHSSSS" to keep anyone who is a fan of Biohazard, Agnostic Front or Harms Way happy all the way to the end. 4/5
