5 Songs: The Call Out Edition

People get mad at other people, it's a fact of life and it's often hard to articulate your anger in a constructive way, which normally makes you feel like you just drank 5 liters of haterade. Thankfully musicians don't have this problem, as they can create songs to call out people who hate them and rub it in their faces about how well their doing without any reprisal (unless they diss another band, resulting in  a reply song which is always amazing).

Anyway, this is the Eazynoiz guide to the 5 Ultimate Diss/Call Out Songs.

1) "No "I" In Team/Seventy Times Seven" - Brand New/Taking Back Sunday



There's nothing more entertaining then two emo bands taking jabs at each other (over a girlfriend as well), and the Brand New/TBS beef was easily the most musically enjoyable as both of these songs are really venomous but beautiful sounding, however I have to hand it to TBS as Brand New are as boring as dry wheetabix these days.


2) "Footsie Slew" - Bearman
 
UK grime is never one to hold back, and there have been plenty of diss/call out tracks through out the years (including 'Pussy'ole' by Dizzee Rascal) but Bearman is easily one of my favorite grime artists as he is very humorous even during a particularly bitter song (the backing beat is amazing too).


3) "Call Out (You Are The Dishes)" - Hit The Lights




When AP (alternative press/american kerrang) called the Hit The Lights EP "disposable, way too simple to be anything original" they took it to heart and on their full length, dedicating the first song to the magazine quoting the article and basically calling them a bunch of fools as they were original enough to get signed and release a full length (which is easily one of my favorite albums ever).

4) "No Vaseline" - Ice Cube




When Ice Cube left notorious rap group NWA, it was under less than amicable circumstances, so on his second record "Death Certificate" he wrote a diss track so hateful and violent it was removed from the UK pressing of the album (it was later re-added) calling out all his old rap mates and insinuating, in true rap fashion, that they were all homosexuals, leaving a bitter taste in everyone's mouth.


5) "Mike Score Is A Lying Cunt" - Cutting Pink With Knives 

This is either about Mike Score of the band All Out War or about Mike Score of the band Flock Of Seagulls, either way it's a pretty straightforward title...

Honorable mentions go to:
Busted/McFly (apparently they had some form of feud) and to a numerous amount of grime artists.
