BWP - 'The Path' (Track Review)

So the video for the new Brutality Will Prevail track premiered on Rocksound this week. The question I find myself asking after a few listens is, is it actually any good?

Removing all the ‘Purgz crew’ hype that usually surrounds BWP and, to be honest, ‘The Path’ seems a little below par. It is not an example of the band at their world ending finest, and if I was going to be cruel I would say it almost sounds like a piece of self-parody. All the elements you’d expect are there, the slow, down tuned breakdown, the ear shattering riffs (it really is heavy) and gravel gargling vocals. It’s just that they don’t seem as fresh or exciting as they did say on ‘Root of all Evil’.

That being said ‘The Path’ isn’t a bad song and it certainly doesn’t mean that you can’t get excited about ‘Scatter the Ashes’ (the album from which it is drawn). However a word of caution, if this is anything to go by, don’t expect anything ground breaking come November 12th.
